Quality at a Reasonable Price

There are lots of places on the Web where you can get a FREE PERSONAL WEB PAGE. Usually, this is in exchange for providing some kind of advertising space, either as a banner ad on your page, or in the form of a pop-up window which appears with your page when it is first loaded.

As with most things in life, free webspace providers run the whole gamut, from excellent services which provide comfortable "cyberhomes" with loads of extra goodies, to sites which are so restrictive that you wouldn't be able to create much of anything there, and so over-run with advertising that you probably wouldn't want to anyway.

When looking for a place to set up your personal webpage, you will want to know a number of things: How much disk space is available? What types of files are supported? What restrictions (if any) are placed on page content? In what form will advertising be carried on/with the sites?

To help you in your search for the perfect cyberhome, we have compiled this short-list of the best (in our opinion) free webspace providers out there, along with details of their services. If you know of any other fantastic free webspace spots on the Web, please let us know.

Disk Space provided: 11 MBs
Advertising: Pop-up ads are served in a separate window with all sites.
Editing/Uploading Files: Both basic (template based), and advanced (text based) online editors are provided. Uploading of locally created files is also supported.
Tech Support: On-line FAQ's, email support from Tripod staff.
File Types supported: If you're looking to use some of the funkier file types in your website, Tripod is probably the place to be. It supports the most extensive list of file types which we have found amongst the free webspace providers and it is open to configuring its server to support new file types at the request of Tripod members. Because Tripod updates its file-type support frequently, it is best to check the Tripod site for a complete list.

Disk Space provided: 5 MBs
Advertising: Pop-up ads are served in a separate window with all sites which are over 200K in disk space. Sites less than 200K are ad free.
Editing/Uploading Files: Both basic (template based), and advanced (text based) online editors are provided. Uploading of locally created files is also supported.
Tech Support: On-line FAQ's, HELP message boards, email support from Angelfire staff.

Tech Support: On-line FAQ's, HELP chat rooms and forums (message boards), email support from Geo staff and "Community Leaders" (Homesteaders who have volunteered to help their neighbours.)
